Dr. Peter J. Collier Consulting can provide external program evaluation services. Dr. Collier will draw upon his background as both an evaluator and a Principal Investigator on grant-funded projects to help you to design and conduct your program evaluation in ways that anticipate and address issues before they become problems.

In addition to offering individual consulting for program developers, Dr. Collier has extensive experience in training program directors and mentors. Dr. Peter J. Collier Consulting can provide a range of services to support you in every facet of developing your program. For example:

1. Needs Assessment Package

Needs Assessment package might include:

- introductory meeting to learn background on proposed program, identify keep stakeholders, and review available resources

- providing background on your targeted group of students' issues & what peer mentoring can realistically provide from literature

- sharing processes for identifying how your targeted group of students' issues play out on your campus

- identifying which of these issues that are appropriate to address with peer mentoring

- develop set of program goals

2. Evaluation Services

Evaluation Services package might include:

- reviewing program goals and identify which ones are appropriate to be addressed by peer mentoring

- selecting an evaluation design (e.g. single point in time, longitudinal, comparison group)

- developing an evaluation plan that includes:

+ operationalizing program goals into measurable indicators

+ identifying which types of data will be necessary to establish that different program goals are being met

+ identifying when different types of data needs to be collected over the duration of program

+ determining who will collect which types of data

- deciding on how different types of data will be analyzed and presented

-creating appropriate evaluation instruments

- identifying specific content to be included in program so that specific program goals can be assessed.

For example. if one program goal is to improve new students' knowledge of appropriate campus resources, then program content must include information on which resources are available, what issues each can address, and how to appropriately use each resource

- identifying specific content and skill development that needs to be included in mentor training to prepare mentors to help mentees progress in content areas you plan to evaluate in order to demonstrate a program goal has been met.

- designing mentor training evaluation (instruments, data collection, analysis plan and data presentation)

- follow-up meeting

3. Mentor Training Services

Mentor Training Services package might include:

- introductory meeting

- determining appropriate duration of mentor training

- providing appropriate training exercises

- designing a mentor training curriculum that covers important program-relevant content areas, develops essential skills, and allows mentors to practice important program-related activates such as completing key program forms, or documenting mentees' use of program-related resources. This also includes sharing information on the sequencing of training materials.

- preparing mentors for their roles in program evaluation data collection

- facilitating your already established mentor training evaluation OR if needed, designing, and implementing your mentor training evaluation (instruments, data collection, analysis plan and data presentation)

- follow-up meeting

Evaluation Consulting Services

Includes all of the elements in the Basic Evaluation Services Package,
plus:

- Supervising data collection, data analysis and presentation

- Providing mentor training relating to program evaluation

- Extended availability for consulting on evaluation issues

- Providing end of program review of evaluation efforts and suggestions for improvements/modifications in evaluation plan for subsequent program years.

- Providing a formal evaluation report, such as is required of externally funded programs
